I'd love to know how you got the coloring in #91 of that batch. It's gorgeous, simple, but I love it! Thank you so much. ;)

GAH, I also love the Friends ones of this batch:

I can NEVER get nice coloring on Friends screencaps. :\ Don't feel pressured to do these tutorials, I just admire your coloring. :)

Hi! Thanks so much. I would love to make the tutorial, only I already did. =o) The one I just posted (of Ashley Olsen) is the same thing, only with Screen/Softlight layer since it was a cap after all. Since everything was the same, I'll just post the layers so you can see the differences. The Hue/Sat layer was set to 34 instead of 64, btw. You can find the Color Balance settings in the tutorial.

Thanks! And as for your Friends request, sadly I didn't save any of the .psp files of those. When I make some in the future, I'll definitely be saving the .psp files (which I am for all my icons now, btw). So if you like my future ones, you can request again. =o)

OOOH, okay thank you so much!!! :D

Thanks so much! Here goes, hopefully I can help.

- The Ross/Rachel one, I made such a long time ago, I can't even begin to remember what I did. However, looking atthis tutorial, the outcome seems the same. So I'm guessing I did something along the lines of that.
- The Rachel from OTH one, again was done months ago. Haven't a clue what I did, so sorry.
- The Danny/Lindsay one I am so positive I used a tutorial, and just changed some opacities and added a Hue/Saturation layer. I've tried for half an hour to look for it, but I can't find it. Because I know I used someone elses tutorial, I don't feel right making a full blown tutorial. However, by miracles, turns out I do have saved the .psp file of this icon. So I took a screen cap of my layers and I'll post these here. If you have any questions, let me know. It should be pretty straight forward though. Hope it does help!
- And finally, the Drew one? I'll definitely do a tutorial. So 1.5/4 isn't too bad, is it? Heh.

As I was making the tutorial for the Drew one, I relaized the steps seemed really familiar. Then I realized it's steps 1-7 of this tutorial. The only difference that I could tell is that I duplicated the Soft Light layer and upped the Saturation. =o)

I love your icons and colouring. I was wondering how you got the bright, pretty coloring in this icon: http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/luckynia/icon/female/rosario01.jpg
Thank you so much!!

(didn't you use my tutorial on that one, see thread here; http://community.livejournal.com/linethewalls/51266.html?thread=309826#t309826)

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.

You can actually find the tutorial I used for that icon here, the only adjustments I made were Brightness/Contrast layers to make them 'pop' more. =o)

And thanks for the compliments.

?

It's actually just the Ashley Olsen tutorial, I added a Screen layer and lowered the Hue/Saturation layer. Easy peasy!

THANKS!

Hi, I was wondering how you managed to acheive the effect in this icon:

I'm pretty sure that it is similar to the Ashlee Simpson tutorial, but I can't seem to get even close to the same effect you did.
25th-Sep-2006 07:20 am (UTC)
It's actually steps 1-7 of a Carrie Underwood tutorial I did. However, since I did do a couple of things slightly different and this is the second time it was requested, I'll go ahead and do a tutorial on it in the near future. The icon I'm currently using also follows along the same guidelines (again, with differences here and there to suit the icon).

Sorry so late. I followed this tutorial, and then duplicated the base and brought it to the top and set it to soft light.

OMGZ I've been using these tutorials like crazy and I never realized they were all made by you - you're awesome! If you're ever looking for a 2nd place to post your icons, there's always a spot for you at showgirldesigns. You're amazing. ♥

A tutorial for any of these would mucho appreciated, but especially the first two :) geez i love your icons

Hi there. I've gotten quite a few requests around the same time so I put all the said icons in a poll, to figure out which to do first. The last three you mentioned are in the poll, feel free to vote .

The Andy icon is actually my Ashley Olsen tutorial, with the base duplicated and brought to the top and set to Soft Light. =o)

I'm in absolute awe of this icon, a tutorial would be great if you had the time!
9th-Feb-2007 10:09 pm (UTC)
Hi there!

That icon is actual made with this tutorial. Just with a few variations. Here's my layers so you can see what I did differently. I included what the base looks like. I don't remember if you use PS or PSP. I'm not 100% sure if the Automatic Color Balance step can be achieved with PS, but if not I included what the base should look like so you can mimic it with Color Balacne or Variations. Pretty much all you want to do is add blue/cyan to take away some of the red/yellow.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Ooh, lovely. Thanks! :D
22nd-Feb-2007 08:31 pm (UTC)

please.
22nd-Feb-2007 09:31 pm (UTC)
really? it looks more blue.
ps. did you watch is yet?
22nd-Feb-2007 09:43 pm (UTC)
VM? Yeah. I downloaded it the night it came out.

I don't have the PSP file, but from testing it out real quick. Looks like I followed the tutorial. Instead of Screening to 100% on the base, only screened to 60. The Automatic Color Balance obviously needs to be played with to make it more blue (I'm guessing all the way to the blue side).

In the Color Balance layer I took away the yellow under midtones.

Then I did my little spiffy trick that I do in a lot of icons to darken up the background noise/hair.

Grab the medium grey, 808080. Paste as new layer, set to Darken 100. Copy Merged, paste as a new layer. Go back and delete the grey darken layer. Set to copy merged layer to Softlight/Overlay, depending how dark you want everything in the back to be.

I'm thinking I may have added -10 contrast too.

That's all I can think of.

i lovvee this batch! where are the textures from 1,2,5, from? and how did you get such pretty black and white colouring?

Sorry to butt in I've uploaded the texture for you. I'm not sure who made it though.

When you get the chance of course.

You're only supposed to request based on her icons ;)
19th-Sep-2007 02:00 pm (UTC)
I really love the cloring and the font of this one.

Certainly wouldn't mind a tut since I've just recently become very addicted to your stuff.

The color effect of this icon is fantastic. May I ask you how did you get there?
